Cemeteries of the County

Tombstones below are of a Richardson and Eddins. They were originally buried at the city cemetery
near the railroad, then moved to the present Mount Olive Cemetery in 1894. Big Spring's diligent
vandals too frequently raid the cemetery and break tombstones, these included:

In 1982 an inventory of county cemeteries was published in the book Howard County 1882 - 1982. Currently the City of Big Spring is working on an update of burials at Mount Olive Cemetery

Names of cemeteries listed in the book are: Ackerly, Coahoma, Moore Community, Salem, State Hospital, Trinity Memorial, Vealmoor, Vincent and West Knott.

Other cemeteries noted elsewhere are Dripping Springs (which I believe not to have existed unless it was Day Springs which became Sand Springs) but there is no location or trace. The second is Phillips Cemetery which I believe to be on my Uncle Roy's land but no Phillips are buried there (below).
