Law and order had its ups and downs in railroad and cowboy culture. Much of the early documentation has been lost, but that which remains demonstrates that Big Spring
may be associated more with the den of iniquity than the alternative.

On pretty good authority I have heard that Burk frequented this Dive and that the motive of the raid was to get rid of people he owed much money through his poker losses.
